Guru Vandana… Restarted Kathak lessons but reduced frequency to once in two weeks as life was starting to feel too busy again (even though it is filled with things I love). Currently, I am working on creating choreographies for upcoming workshops. In many cultures including in Indigenous and Eastern spiritual communities, complementary duality is understood as the existence of two energies—male and female—that can coexist in balance in the same being. We are said to be tapping into our feminine energy when we are being intuitive, generous, nurturing, receptive and grateful (heart centered). We are tapping into our masculine energy when we are being logical, confident, clear, assertive and goal-driven (mind-centered). This notion has been historically challenged by colonialism and certain religions. In my personal experience though, this interpretation is what makes the most sense to me. Traditionally, women were only “allowed” to express the feminine energy that flows through them. Women have faught to have the freedom to express their masculine energies and finally, we are at a place where in many places, we can freely lead, freely express our opinions, freely and confidently make decisions that we so obviously are capable of. Sometimes though because of how much we had to fight for this particular freedom, we as women get afraid to express our feminine qualities. What if I am not considered “strong” anymore if I express the desire to want to nurture my children? What if I am considered “weak” if I make changes to my career to care for my children even if I am unhappy in my career/job? We forget that true freedom comes when are able to be our authentic selves. True freedom comes when we stop caring about other people’s opinions and just “be”. When our feminine and masculine energies are in balance, our lives become harmonious, our relationships become harmonious. We are able to set boundaries and also be kind. One of the ways that I tap into my feminine energy is by dancing. When I dance, I immediately connect to my heart instead of my mind and I just flow. A lot of our jobs involve using a lot of masculine energy. I welcome you to take a break from leading from your mind and lead from your heart. I am super excited to be presenting for the first time in Cuenca 🇪🇨 a unique Bollywood Dance Workshop for all levels (No experience required) & a fantastic Bazaar from India! 💃🏻🇮🇳✨

Bollywood dance is a colorful, dynamic and expressive dance style seen in Indian films. It combines classical dance forms such as Kathak, Bharatnaryam, Bhangra, Garba with salsa and belly dancing, while incorporating more contemporary forms such as hip-hop and shuffle. With no set rules, Bollywood dancing is perfect for freedom of creative expression.

💃About the Instructor
Santhra Raichel Thambidurai was born in Kerala, India. She started dancing Bollywood from the age of 13. After moving to the US at 19, she was selected for the nationally acclaimed Ru Bhangra team. She has danced in over 60 shows and choreographed and taught students young and old. Last year, she taught Spanish-only speaking students in Ayampe, Ecuador while barely speaking Spanish. This year she appeared in the Vive Fit Tv show. Dance is her passion along with teaching Math and she is excited to share it in Ecuador.

Reminder to all of you thinking of sharing more of your passion on social media but are hesitant because

*you think you are not good enough
*you worry about what people would think
*you don’t want to start something up and then quit
*you worry you don’t have time
*you worry you are too old

I have had all these thoughts pass in my mind and I am aware of them. I let them pass and I won’t give them any energy. I am here to learn and grow as a dancer and share my authentic self - in the way I can as a mother of two little kids while managing my other soul-led business.

If you think of your page as a documentation of your journey and growth, then what other people think does not matter. If you have a talent, cultivate it. ✨Don’t let other people’s opinions about you deter you from doing the things you want to do.

Masculine (doing) and Feminine (being) energy exists within all of us irrespective of our sex. Growing up in the cut throat Indian education system, and then half of my life in the hustle culture of New Jersey, I am much more comfortable in my masculine energy 😁but I feel the full expression of my being when both energies are in balance within me. When I dance, I connect with my feminine and flow and just be.
